Welcome to my monthly update for residents and communities within the Stoneygate and Spinney Hill Neighbourhood Policing Area. This newsletter will be shared regularly and aims to provide an insight into local policing activity, community engagement, and key issues affecting the area. It is also an opportunity to keep you informed, highlight ongoing work, and strengthen our connection with the community. – PCSO 6072 Waheed Akhtar Goodbye We have now said our farewells to PS 315 Brown who has moved on to pastures new and finds himself at Euston Street Police Station as their Deputy Commander. The 15 Beat wishes him well and every success in the future. Watch this space, the Stoneygate Beat will have a new Sergeant in the near future, we look forward to welcoming them to the team and when they land, we can’t wait to get them out and about, meeting everyone in the community. But do not worry, Stoneygate Beat is still being supported by Supervisory - Our Commander, Deputy Commander, along with other Beat Sergeants are all working together, with us to maintain support for our community.
Evington Road – Fly Tipping, Cleanliness and Bin Misuse Over the past month, the team have dealt with a number of issues relating to fly tipping and environmental concerns along Evington Road. Several incidents of fly tipping have been reported to Leicester City Council via the Love Leicester App, alongside direct engagement with relevant council Staff to address the ongoing issues. Also there have been raised concerns regarding bin misuse by some local businesses, which has been contributing to littering and cleanliness concerns in the area. To support a longer-term solution, work is underway by speaking with the newly appointed local councillor, and further discussions are planned in the coming weeks to explore ways of improving the situation through partnership working. Drug Dealing – South Highfields In relation to concerns around drug dealing, proactive work has been carried out to gather community intelligence. Relevant intelligence has been submitted and is currently being progressed, with the potential for enforcement action, including warrant activity, if appropriate. Also, the Team continues to work closely with the Dawn Centre and is linking in with the Problem-Solving Team to support with Hot Spot patrols around the area.
Road Safety – Evington Road and School Parking Road safety concerns, particularly around school opening and finishing times, have remained a focus. High-visibility patrols have been conducted to address inconsiderate and unsafe parking, especially around schools and key roads. The Team has spoken with schools, parents and local residents to raise awareness of the impact that dangerous and inconsiderate parking has on the safety of children and the wider community. In addition, it has been requested to gain support from Traffic Wardens and School Staff to carry out joint operations during peak times to help address ongoing concerns and encourage safer parking practices.
In addition The Team have found themselves being very busy, not only with our day-to-day neighbourhood role, but also with supporting response and other neighbourhood teams. We are still here for you though! Arrest attempts for persons are continuing for those Wanted on Warrant, the Team are also working to develop intel for Warrants applications. The community is key when it comes to this, remember if you don’t want to report intelligence to the Police directly, you can always do this anonymously through Crimestoppers. Please all look after yourselves and each other, it has been a tad warm recently (even through it looks to disappear now) Keep hydrated and continue to be kind to each other.
